Answers to common questions
Who actually does the work when I use Reachpresidential Pest Control?
An independent local provider does the work. Reachpresidential Pest Control is a referral service. It connects you with a provider in our network and explains how your call is routed. It does not send crews, set prices or perform treatments. You agree on the scope and the price directly with the provider, and you should ask for it in writing before anything starts.
How can I keep mice, ants and roaches out of my house?
Start with the small gaps. Seal cracks around pipes, vents and the foundation, and keep door sweeps snug. Store pantry food in hard containers. Fix leaky taps and keep the sump area and basement dry, since damp spaces draw bugs. Trim branches back from the roof and clear leaves from the foundation. Our cold winters push mice indoors, so check things in fall. A provider can also inspect for entry points you may miss.
Will my homeowners insurance cover pest or wildlife damage?
It depends on your policy. Many policies exclude damage from pests that built up slowly over time, such as termites or chewing rodents. Some policies may cover sudden damage, such as a raccoon tearing through a ceiling in a storm-damaged attic. Check your policy or ask your agent. Providers can often help document damage with notes and photos if you need to file a claim.
What should I expect during the first visit?
Expect a calm walk-through. The provider will ask what you have seen, where and when. Then they usually check the attic, basement, crawl space, kitchen and outside walls. You should hear what they found, what they suggest and what it may cost, with a written quote. Ask about follow-up visits, pet and child safety, and how long to stay out of treated areas.
Can I handle a pest problem myself with store products?
Sometimes, for a few ants or a stray spider. But DIY has limits. Sprays can scatter roaches and ants into new spots. Snap traps may miss a nest in the wall. Termites and bed bugs rarely respond to store products. If you still see signs after a week or two, it is wise to ask a provider for an inspection.
How do I know if it is termites and not something else?
Look for mud tubes on foundation walls, wood that sounds hollow when tapped, tiny piles of wood dust, or discarded wings near windows. Older frame homes and damp basements are common targets. These signs are easy to mistake for other issues, so a provider should confirm. Early checking protects the structure and your home's value.
Do you offer bed bug treatment and wildlife removal?
Providers in our network can help with bed bug treatment, wildlife removal and common household pests. Which services are offered depends on the provider. When you call, mention what you are seeing, such as bites, noises in the attic or droppings, so the call can be routed to a provider who handles that kind of problem.
Is it okay to wait and see if the problem goes away?
Usually it is better not to wait. Mice and rats breed fast, and chewed wiring or soaked insulation can lead to bigger repairs. Termites work out of sight. Waiting can also affect your home's value if you plan to sell. Request a callback to check provider availability, or send the estimate request. There is no obligation to hire anyone.
